I realize it’s been a while since I’ve been around to work on this site and I want to apologize a bit. I have had a lot going on personally and life has been crazy the past month or so. But, I’m starting off my editting of the site with updating the look because Halloween’s over. I’m not having as much luck with the design as I did last time and I’m glad I only have to have this one up for about a month before I can start working on a Christmas theme because I don’t know how I like the colors. Really, the content is more important so I’m going to get to that.

I’m looking for some web design, marketing, etc companies/websites I can showcase here on the blog. If you know of any you really like or trust, please comment here and I’ll take a look. Thanks.

Welcome to Lalaland.nu, a resource site for amateur web designers! I am excited to have this site live again, even if it is unfinished. But I have a lot of plans for this little site and I thought I would share them with you.

Currently Open:

Getting Started, Hosting, Blog, About Me, Contact Me

I started with these pages because I felt like they were the most important ones to have up right away. Of course the blog, but also you’ll need to get your site/blog started before you jump in to HTML and everything else. I also wanted to share a little bit about me and the site, because that was requested a lot back in the day and I was actually able to take a decent picture!

HTML Help, CSS, PHP, Graphics, Link Me, Credits, Advertise Here

These pages are coming soon. I will probably start with the last two, but then you’ll see more order (HTML, then CSS, then PHP). A lot has changed since the days when I learned how to code and design websites, so I’m going to be taking a few little refresher courses myself. I’m also taking Programming and Logic in school right now so I hope to have some custom PHP scripts available to you soon.

Of course, the site content should be fully complete before I start offering these. Tutorials and training courses will most likely be 99% free, but donation based. There is a large cost to keeping Lalaland.nu going and I will need to cover it somehow. Currently, it is $97/month (for the dedicated server, design elements and domain name). Backgrounds Lab

I know my doesn’t open until tomorrow, but I found this site and I had to share it. I was looking for a background for one of my sites and Google led me to this beautiful site with amazing quality graphics! I have seen this site once before, but wasn’t sure how I found it so I’m very glad that I found it again. Granted it wasn’t hard to find because she must also be an SEO MASTER! Phew.. I need to calm down a little. Is it weird that I’m this excited over tiled backgrounds?

The Last Postponement

I’ve just updated the counter for the last time. I will not postpone opening this site another day past Friday. I’ve decided that waiting any longer than that would almost make this Halloween design obsolete and I spent too much time working on it for that. I’m excited to get the site up and going again and I’m coming to terms with the fact that I won’t be able to have it 100% complete before it opens. I would love to.. but it’s just going to be too time consuming and it’s going to need to be a work in progress. I will, however, have the basics all set and ready to go. It looks like the hosting may be ready, too. I’m trying to decide if I want to add a WPMU to the site and offer blog hosting as well. I guess I can always add that later.

Coming Along

This website thing is much more involved than I remembered! You know, I do remember sitting at my computer for days at a time working on my site and getting far, but I guess it had slipped my mind. I really enjoy creating websites and I’m having a lot of fun with it, but I’m really ready for the site to be open. I’ve just finished working on the About Me page and I’m working on that entire section. The content hasn’t really even been put together yet, but I think that will have to come progressively, after the site is open. If I can get the Getting Started section done, I think I can go ahead and open the site for visitors and just keep working on it. I really hope this site is useful to people and I’m not just wasting my time!

I know no one can see these updates because the Anticipate plugin from Elegant Themes is currently showing, but I needed to post an update! I have been working on the page where I’m listing hosting websites, both free and paid, and going around getting the information from all of the sites has been way more time consuming than I thought. I don’t know if the release date of October 1 is going to happen, but I sure am trying! I feel pretty good since I have the design working (and it’s perfect, by the way) and some pages up, but I still see a long, lost list of pages left to do. And I haven’t even begun to think about the Graphics section, yet!

I may just have to open the site before it’s completely finished and that’s okay, because when is a site every truly finished? Never. So, I guess I’m just freaking out a little bit because I have to work this weekend and won’t have all that time to devote to it. I’m really annoyed with myself right now for having spent all day yesterday on school work and watching television. Mostly television. But seeing the new Gentry Publishing page open last night (way sooner than I expected it to) has really inspired me to get this done! See you all soon..

You Are Not Here

You do not see this post right now. You actually see a very detailed maintenance page that shows information about what’s coming on this site and gives you the opportunity to join a newsletter that will tell you when the site is open. Just keep reading that last sentence until you believe it. Not because I didn’t install and set up the whole plugin, but because the plugin locks me out of the site, too! So I’ve found that I need to turn it off just to work on the site. Good news is that if you’re seeing this page right now, it means that I am working on the site! How exciting?!

My projection is to have the site ready to release by October 1st, so bookmark the site and check back then. If you’d like an update when it’s ready, just comment here and I’ll shoot you an email. If you leave your site address, I’ll visit that, too. Until then..
